FORMER BBC presenter Michael Carey has died aged 87.
The Radio Derby host was pulled from the River Derwent in Darley Abbey Mills, Derbyshire, on Saturday morning, police said.
He was rushed to hospital but passed away a short time later, the BBC reports.
Michael hosted a programme called Memorable Melodies for almost 20 years before stepping down in 2019.
Cops are investigating how he got into the water.
Aftab Gulzar, executive editor at BBC Radio Derby, described Michael, known as Mike, as a “constant professional”.
He added: “He was a reserved man but if you got him on to some subjects like music, cricket or his dogs, then you’d be there chewing the fat for some time.”
